Simplex pipeline strainers remove damage causing particulate matter from the process media, protecting system components such as flow meters, pumps, and spray nozzles. The particulate matter is captured in the strainer basket. The line is then temporarily shut down and the baskets removed for cleaning or replacement.

There are 4 baskets per strainer. This makes possible a compact unit with a very low profile, ideal for tight installations where space is a problem. One person can clean the baskets easily and rapidly. The baskets feature a large open area ratio and have a high dirt holding capacity. Therefore, a longer cycle between clean out is permissible. The unique Eaton angled basket tops allow direct fluid entry and result in a low pressure drop.

Eaton large size simplex strainers are designed to handle very large volumes of fluid (up to 40,000 GPM) and are used in the electric power industry and primary metals industry for cleaning cooling water. They are also in wide use in the paper, sewage and water treatment industries as well. The petroleum industry uses these large strainers to remove gums, tars and dirt from oil and oil products.
