Duplex strainers remove damage causing particulate matter from the process media, and never have to be shut down for cleaning…the line can run continuously. When one strainer basket becomes full, flow is switched to the other. The first basket is removed, cleaned and is ready for use again.

These large size strainers use synchronized gate valves to switch the flow from one basket strainer chamber to another and never cause the flow to be shut off. Operation is quick and easy with the large, easy to use hand wheel…a few turns and the flow is diverted and the out of service basket is ready for cleaning.

There are 4 baskets per chamber (8 for the complete strainer). This makes possible a compact unit with a very low profile, ideal for tight installations where space is a problem. One person can clean the baskets easily and rapidly. The baskets feature a large open area ratio and have a high dirt holding capacity. Therefore, a longer cycle between clean out is provided. The unique Eaton angled basket tops allow direct fluid entry and result in a low pressure drop.

Eaton large size duplex strainers are designed to handle very large volumes of fluid (up to 30,000 GPM) and are used in the electric power industry and primary metals industry for cleaning cooling water. They are also in wide use in the paper, sewage and water treatment industries as well. The petroleum industry uses these large strainers to remove gums, tars and dirt from oil and oil products.
